Louis' Technology Tweaks

Posted: 7th February 2017

With a new G driver in hand, plus a PING Vault Voss Platinum putter back in the bag, Louis Oosthuizen parlayed a few equipment changes into a third-place finish at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Oosthuizen was one shot out of a playoff at -16 after a 6-under 65 on Sunday. During the week, PING Tour Rep Christian Peña built Oosthuizen a new G driver to reduce spin with a Project X Hzrdus T1100 shaft that improved feel and workability. Louis’ bag also included a G 5-wood, iBlade irons (3-PW), and three Glide 2.0 wedges (50 SS, 54 SS and 60 WS).

New Equipment Rising in Phoenix

Posted: 31st January 2017

New-product fitting is a focus as PING pros, including Harris English, visit PING headquarters in preparation for this week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Glide 2.0 wedges are #1 in PING bags, offering new groove technology that provides unprecedented spin and control. Among their proponents: Louis Oosthuizen, who’ll make his first appearance at the Waste Management, and Bubba Watson, twice a runner-up in the event. Eight of nine PING pros will play Glide 2.0 wedges in Phoenix. Sigma G putters, 16 models unveiled last week, are preferred by several pros. Aaron Baddeley has a Sigma G Anser in the bag. Brandon Hagy plays a Sigma G Tyne prototype.
